Position Title:Die Design & Automation Engineer

Position Purpose (Overview of the position)
The objective of the Die Design / Automation Engineer is to support the Ford Global stamping engineering department by working with both die design & automation suppliers and stamping team including local tooling suppliers to complete design reviews for all new die designs. This will involve: -
? Lead Die design & automation standard, timing and procedure update. Lead die design reviewing in Catia V5 software and JT format to ensure they met FORD Die Design and Press Standards.
? Create and Review Automation related documents and data to guide die designs. Simulating automation availability / pass ability in Delmia or other automation software to meet expected SPM (Stroke Per Minute).
? Key SPOC of CTO for die design and automation issues. Managing and coordinating progress of multiple programs to ensure all critical milestones are met and informing management of any issues/delays.
? Internal & external die design & automation training, WDX/Power tools update coordinate for update/training.
? Feedback and drive WDX update and die design procedure update based on STS & plant feedback.
Key Roles and Responsibilities of Position
? Lead die design and automation engineering data for CTO programs (include FSS & UN panel programs design reviews & support date uploading into TCE.), support other design review work from Ford global engineering team based on request. Guide/lead design sources in China to understand / utilize automation start package correctly.
? Strong technical skills on: Die strength analysis, Die interference check, Analyze automation possibility risks and propose solutions for processors and or die designers. Simulate automation in Delmia or other automation software to meet expected SPM. Solid understand for die material choosing, component, casting, welding method and coating & co develop technology with outside venders.
? Manage die design & automation workload with internal CTO resource and external supplier resource, developing supplier base (capability & capacity) to handle workload change with KSSSM methods.
? Host training to design sources to ensure they follow die design standard (Power tool, BOM format, material advisor, WDX standard etc.) and helping to create Smirt file based on need. Lead training to develop internal CTO die design junior engineers and supplier design team capability.
? Lead on die design standard and automation related new technologies to drive die standard, investment efficiency improvement (optimize die size, weight, material, components, coating etc.) Bench mark the best and continuously improve global die standard, design review process.
? Cooperate with NA/Global stamping team to support PDPD / WDX / Feasibility discussion and update. Report to CTO stamping engineering manager about die design project status which are sourced in China.
? Liaise with various local tooling suppliers to ensure designs are acceptable to FORD standard
? Liaise and review with process / simulation engineers to facilitate issue resolution, co-develop SPL or standard to address cross team issues.
? Enough ability to provide a clear countermeasure to supplies for addressing stamping issues from FPG.
? May require infrequent travel within China suppliers to support design reviews. program coordination, tryout. Supporting tooling follow up team on die design automation issues based on request.
Candidate Specification
Education Qualification:Bachelor/MS degree in Material/Mechanical Engineering
No. of Years of Experience:10 yrs or above on stamping die engineering experience
Professional Exposure
(Technical Skills):Excellent understanding of Catia V5 or Unigraphics, AutoCAD. Vis mockup & Smirt is a plus; Automation simulation software is a plus
Preferred previous experiences:Stamping Die Design and or Stamping Processor or tooling follow up
Functional Skills:In depth understanding of Die Design and Sheet Metal Forming including:
- Knowledge of Die Design and Standards (WDX)
- Knowledge of Stamping Presses and equipment
- Understanding of Metal Forming Simulation (FEA)

Special Knowledge/Skills Required:Good English communication skills with hands on CAD die design skill
